Horse Care Kit

By VIVIAN GRANT
Fund for Horses Charities

Imagine you have to leave home at a moment’s notice without a chance to pack a single item. What if you are a horse and have to leave everything behind and have no place to go unless someone takes you in? What happens then?

As part of our Emergency Relief Fund program at Fund for Horses Charities, we have dealt with evacuations in all sorts of circumstances the past couple of years. We found that although feed, hay and medical supplies are always at the top of the list, rescuers always mention if we have extra halters, blankets, lead ropes and grooming supplies, it would be extremely helpful to them.

After a bit of brainstorming, we came up with our Horse Care Kit project.

Donations to our Horse Care Kit fund enable us to assemble and distribute horse care kits to horse rescues, sanctuaries and first responders who find themselves suddenly responsible for the care of a displaced horse, whether saved from abuse and neglect, a natural disaster, or some other life threatening situation.

Get involved by making a donation to sponsor an entire kit ($450.00), packing, shipping and handling ($50.00), or help us build a kit.

For individuals sponsoring a complete kit, your name will appear on our Horse Care Kit Heroes page, and on a special card we are including in the kits. For businesses, we are putting your company’s logo on the box as well.

This would be a great group project for Scouts, softball teams, Sunday School students, 4-H clubs… or any civic organization. Put together a fundraiser to sponsor a kit!
