The Int’l Fund for Horses has a long-time supporter who has worked closely with us to end horse slaughter since 2005. He is as alarmed as we are at the number of States once again working to legalize horse slaughter.
We want to hire local lobbyists in those States to work in tandem with our grassroots efforts. This is how we were successful in closing the horse slaughter plants in Texas and Illinois.
He has pledged to donate $5K for every $5K we raise, no matter how many times we are able to do this!
We are asking everyone who follows us to make a donation of $5 or more.
You know how hard we work and the successes we have: many more than organizations who have budgets of millions and millions of dollars.
Will you help?
Thank you so much.
I can only afford 10 bucks Vivian. My horses keep me cash poor…
Elle
I just sent a paltry 10 bucks! How I wish I could do more…
Elle
It’s not about what you can give, it’s all about the fact you do :)
Every donation counts. Nothing is too little :)
Jane, I know that is the case. When I was married to a certifiable crazy man he and I together made tons of money. He would spend it as fast as he got it. He actually found a place in the US to go Snowboarding for the full month of July! I saved and he did not. When we divorced he split the country and I like to say I got everything including the enormous debts! The Feds tried to make me pay his income tax, I spent thousands getting that idea out of their head. The tax code had changed and spouses were no longer responsible for paying the income tax of the divorced partner. The tax collectors did not believe it, so I had to prove it! There was no way I was going to pay $124K for his taxes.
That man left me in financial ruin. I own my home outright, and my car as well. I don’t drive at the moment but that is another story!
My funds go to my animals first, then the usual bills, and then pet food for my ancient cat and ageing dog. What is left over I put a bit into an IRA and I mostly cook my own meals but since I am a vegan it does not cost too much for me to buy food for myself.
Also, it is cheaper to Vet your horses than your cats and dogs!!! The domestic pet vets are all rip off artists and I often refuse to give these old pets their vaccines as at a certain state, and since they live indoors they are not exposed to anything and their bodies have built up a resistance to the diseases they are being vaccinated for. I am forced to give my soon to be 21 year old Quarterhorse a rabies shot even though he does not need it! It is a State Law! I have the vet out twice as giving them the vaccines all on one day could kill an older horse.
Sigh.

Thank you Elle, and thank you Jane. In our email to supporters, we added that if everyone who received our email alerts donated $5 once a year, we would have to do no other fundraising. That is how quickly a lot of people giving $5 adds up. It is amazing. We are so grateful for every donation. We do not even look at the amount, just say a heartfelt thank you to God for His kind and generous people.
From your lips to God’s ears Vivian. I ask people to give up a cup of coffee and sometimes I get small donations that way.
My supporters have been with me for a long time. In these economic times it is difficult. However, $5.00 is nothing.
Ellen
I think Viv has it nailed on this one. It is a very good idea.
BTW, I posted this today to the Barbi Twins who have over 4000 followers. Maybe that get some more contributions in from that site, too. Some of their followers on Twitter seem to be doing well financially.
I will also post on my Facebook pages and ask for help there, too. There are many horse advocates there in the US and Canada. I will do my best.
I have always considered a forward thinking person with a mind that allows her to adapt to anything regarding the horses. Five bucks is Five bucks. Now if people go to their Paypal account and send at least 5, then the Horsefund will get 4.00 and change. I have been at this for a very long time and the Horsefund has always had the most innovative ideas and some really great successes. More than the other horse protection agencies combined.

Sent donation.
donation sent!
Thank you so very much Mary and Eileen. We are well on our way, thanks to generosity like yours.
Please, everyone, tell people to donate to the Fund!
Elle
Isn’t it strange that when someone finds out you have horses, they immediately think you’re rich! I wouldn’t be rich even without horses. With them, I’m certainly not!
But, I can afford a small donation for such an important cause.
