Three horses injured during non-betting steeplechase die at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Three horses have been euthanized after suffering injuries during non-betting steeplechase races held at Saratoga Race Course’s annual open house.

National Steeplechase Association Director of Racing Bill Gallo says the injuries occurred separately in each of the first three races during last weekend’s 32nd-annual event.

Two of the horses sustained injuries while on flat ground, while the third was injured during a hurdle. Read more >>

  1. Yes, and a lot not being said about it by anyone in the industry Bev. Just passing it by as if their lives do not matter. Not even their names mentioned. Too excited about the flat racing coming up I guess.

    This is why people are turning away from horse racing in droves. They say the sport isn’t dying. Then why all the slots etc trying to drag in the punters? Not just the economy. People always seem to have $$$ to gamble!
