The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) are a threat to the safety and welfare of racing’s Thoroughbreds with it anti-horse attitudes, and the rest of America’s horses with its pro-slaughter lobbying.
But why?
- Why does the NTRA hate Thoroughbreds?
- Why does the NTRA look the other way when Thoroughbreds are raced to their deaths because of injury masking drugs?
- Why does the NTRA look the other way when trainers give Thoroughbreds performance enhancing drugs?
- Why does the NTRA look the other way when Thoroughbreds are raced to their deaths by the furious overuse of the whip by jockeys?
- Why does the NTRA say they support a ban on horse slaughter but do nothing to help get legislation passed for five years?
- Why does the NTRA say they support a ban on horse slaughter and have links for gambling friendly legislation on their website but none for anti horse slaughter legislation?
- Why does the NTRA say they support a ban on horse slaughter then work to defeat legislation that would prohibit Thoroughbreds from being exported for slaughter?
In my opinion, the NTRA is run by a despicable group of individuals who have utter disregard, and possibly even hatred, for the horses who make millions of dollars for them.
Their attitude is use the horses up and dump them at auction where they can be bought, shipped to a slaughter plant, butchered and cut up for food for European diners.
Pimps treat whores with more respect and compassion than the NTRA does the Thoroughbred.
Alex loves Mitch
There is another question.
Why has Alex Waldrop, President and CEO of the NTRA, made in personal contributions to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to the tune of $5,500.
McConnell is anti-horse and pro slaughter, and has worked to block legislation to ban horse slaughter and export for slaughter. McConnell has also interfered with USDA inspections of sored horses. Read more at Ditch Mitch Kentucky.
It must be that Alex is very, very fond of Mitch. They have so much in common.
Blog Me
Waffling Wally has a blog at the NTRA website where he welcomes comments on how the NTRA can grow its business.
He must be kidding. Waldrop brags that he used to walk the “bricks” at racecourses, and knows the industry inside out.
Anyone who runs a business knows you always take care of your greatest asset, in this case the Thoroughbred. This means that Waldrop is not only heartless but also incredibly stupid. He is also weak.
The NTRA is funded in part by organizations such as the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. Both spend wads of cash and lobby vigorously to defeat legislation banning horse slaughter and export for slaughter.
Why doesn’t Waldrop stand up to these organizations and point out how destructive to the racing industry their behavior is?
Oh, that would take the courage of a Thoroughbred.
You can email non-mentalist Waldrop with your thoughts at alexwaldrop@ntra.com, and I highly encourage you to do so.
Remember Barbaro. Remember Eight Belles. Remember all the other Thoroughbreds abused and destroyed by the racing industry whose names we will never know.
