Public Viewing of Incarcerated Mustangs Denied
Despite the enormous cost to the American taxpayers and the controversial nature of the roundup, the BLM and the Department of Interior (DOI) are denying requests for independent humane observers during the processing of nearly 1900 mustangs over the next few months in preparation for their long term holding or adoption. During this dangerous time for the mustangs, the public are being denied an opportunity to view BLM running the animals through alleyways and into chutes where they will be freeze-branded, inoculated and neck-tagged.
49 horses have died as the result of the roundup. This does not include the 30 plus mares who have aborted their late-term foals in the feedlot style corrals in Fallon, Nevada. The 4% death rate is over eight times the BLM expected level for a helicopter roundup. Foals are now being born in the pens and the public is not permitted to confirm young, sick and old animals are being humanely treated in a timely fashion.
Mustang Outrage Protest
President Obama is expected to arrive in Las Vegas, Nevada, just when Interior Secretary Ken Salazar is asking Congress for over $60 million dollars mostly for more roundups and over $40 million to buy farms in the East to warehouse the wild horses the BLM has condemned to captivity.
In memory of Freedom, the Calico mustang who leapt a high pen wall and burst through barbed wire to freedom, a Mustang Outrage protest is being held today in Las Vegas starting at 1:30 pm in front of the offices of Senators Ensign and Reid, on the steps of the Lloyd D. George Federal Courthouse, 333 S. Las Vegas Building, Las Vegas NV. Banners will then be carried to over 40 locations across the entire city of Las Vegas so the public can see our Mustang Outrage!

MY PRESIDENT,I ASK YOU TODAY AS A CITIZEN AND FATHER TO STOP THE NEEDLESS KILLING OF THE BEAUITFUL CALICO MUSTANGS,AS A FATHER AND GRANDFATHER I WOULD NOT AND COULD NOT LET THIS GO ON IF I WAS IN A POSITION TO STOP IT,I KNOW THIS IS NOT SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE FOR YOUR DAUGHTERS TO KNOW ABOUT. UNLESS FOR FOOD IS THE ONLY EXCEPTTION FOR THE SLAUGHTER OF THESE ANIMALS.

We appreciate your sentiments Mr. Whitman about sparing our Mustangs from roundups, returning them to their rightful public lands ranges, and managing them in the wild to preserve them.
However, we beg to differ with you on horse slaughter. We are against the slaughter of any horse.
There are a surplus of horses because of over breeding by various horse industries. There are now more horses being killed across U.S. borders in Canada and Mexico than when slaughter plants were operating in America. Horses are suffering abandonment because of the economy.

This situation is completely unacceptable. The some of the horses have been rounded up in the dead of winter, run over frozen rough ground and down the side of mountains literally for miles. At least two colts sloughed off their hooves because of the above conditions, 20-30 mares have had late term abortions for same reasons. They have already castrated the studs so the families can never be reunited as they were. The BLM is probable illegally holding 33K+ in long and short term holding and trying to find ways around the laws and citizens to kill thousands of them. They have over the years continued to cut back the PUBLIC LANDS the Wild Horse and Burro Act of 1971 gave them; there were over 60K horses/burros on the public lands at that time. There are in excess of 100 cows to every single horse on these lands that state they are for the wild creatures first and domestic last. The BLM has become a rogue organization and the only way to stop them is for we the people to keep yelling and complaining and demanding the horses returned to the lands they are entitled to. Organize protests. We must take our nation back from greed.

The Calico roundup has cause the death of over 75-100 horses. There are over 33K horse in long and short term “holding” with BLM wanting to kill Ks of them. There is in excess of 100 “cattle units” per 1 horse on the Public Lands given to the horses/burros in the Wild Horse and Burro Act of 1971, and the lands allotted to them has been cut back by over 24 million acres. Our wild Mustangs deserve their freedom and to have their families back running on their home range FREE!!! These magnificent innocent horses are being treated cruelly keeping mares from their foals, stallions having their freedom taken only to lose their wild spirit. Please give the Calico wild horses their deserved FREEDOM!!!
