Interior Secretary Ken Salazar is asking for more money, millions of your taxpayer dollars, from the Appropriations Cmte this Wednesday, to continue paying for the atrocities the BLM are committing unchecked against our wild horses and burros. You know the tragic details by now.
We are asking this from you today.
Find who your two U.S. Senators are and bookmark the contact pages. Check to and see if either of them are Members of the Appropriations Committee.
If they are, please send them a message (phone call, email or fax) stating that you are strongly opposed to using taxpayer dollars for the massive roundups of our wild horses and burros.

I, AS A TAXPAYER REQUEST THE BLM BE AUDITED FOR ALL THE MONEY THEY CLAIM HAS BEEN SPENT ON THE WILD HORSES AND BURROS. ALSO, WHY DO THEY HAVE AN ONGOING CONTRACT WITH THE COOTER’S AND NO ONE ELSE CAN BID. THEIR ACCOUNTING OF HORSES ON THE RANGE SEEMS A LONG WAY OFF. ARE WE CERTAIN THEY ARE LEAVING ANY HORSES THERE IS NO ACCURATE FIGURE. THIS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM HAS REALLY BEEN DONE SLOPPY. THE PROGRAM REQUIRES A MANAGER WHO REALLY KNOWS HIS BUSINESS WITH HORSES AND THAT SEEMS VERY LACKING HERE. THE LARGE AMOUNT OF CATTLE THE BLM HAS ON THE HORSES AND BURRO RANGE CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS TO ANY VISTOR GOING INTO THE AREA. I SAY WHAT HAPPEN ONCE ON OUR OWN RANCH WHEN AN OWL WAS INJURED. A GROUP OF APPROXIMATELY 40 CATTLE FORMED A CIRCLE AROUND HIM AND MOVED FORWARD AS ONE. THEIR WAS NOT MUCH LEFT OF THE OWL AFTERWARDS. WHAT IS THIS HAD BEEN A PERSON? WHY ARE TAXPAYERS PAYING FOR THE CATTLE WHEN IT IS ONLY CATTLE BARONS REAPING REWARDS NOT OUR HORSES? THE HORSES HELPED US CONQUER THE WEST AND BUILD OUR COUNTRY. THEY ALSO WERE AT OUR SIDE IN THE WORLD WARS. MY GREAT-GREAT GRANDFATHER WHO WAS ONE OF THE ROUGH RIDERS. HE RODE A HORSE AT SAN JUAN HILL BESIDE TEDDY ROSEVELT. WE OWE THESE HORSES AND BURROS LAND OF THEIR OWN TO ROAM AND BE MANAGED IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER.

Amen; I agree and applaud what you say ! this is a “breed ’em and round ’em scheme which has been going on for 40 years ?
Obivous mismanagement ! THEY PUT UNFIXED STALLIONS BACK IN TO THE HERD;
this is to cause Overbreeding so then they can cry: Too many Mustangs!
I cry: Foul ! BLM purposely overbreeds Mustangs to then round them up!

I have asked Senator Feinstein to ask Sec. Salazar for an accounting of where exactly the budget has gone – hay and gas prices have dropped and stabilized since last Spring – and how a program as passive as the Wild Horse and Burro Program can, after spending nearly $40M for care of the Captives, justify an addtional $29M as on-the-range costs where no on-the-range management, other than ‘monitoring’, exists.
This discounts the request for $45M for property acquisition for Sec. Salazar’s ‘Sanctuary”.
The Wild Ones are not fed or vetted, nor is the range reseeded or replanted AS IT APPLIES TO THE WILD ONES WELFARE.
So where does that $29M go?
