Jeremy Ryan Richardson, 17, admitted the early-January attack on a mare named Misty at her home on Bankstown Road, in Fayette County, Georgia.
The attack left the eight-year-old with terrible injuries, having been struck with four arrows.
The severity of the attack meant Richardson was charged as an adult with felony aggravated cruelty to an animal.
Nancy and Ralph Padovano, who own Misty, were present in court on Thursday when Richardson admitted the attack as part of a plea arrangement.
Ralph Padovano told Horsetalk today that Richardson must serve 30 days in one stretch and the remaining 30 days over 15 weekends.

Unfortunately there exist, on earth, humans without conscience. Always have been and always will be. That is the reason for all animal abuse as well as human abuse. It is only with advocate groups as dedicated as iFH that we can endeavor to change things, but it is a long road. We can never give up hope and spirit for if we do then all that has been accomplished will be lost in a second. Continue to fight.
