The Int’ Fund for Horses is raising money to produce a wild horse and burro public service announcement (PSA) that will air across the country. They call the campaign, “Get Reel for Wild Horses.”
Wild horses and burros are on the brink of extinction because of deadly and unnecessary roundups being conducted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), a federal agency charged with their protection. Instead, mishandling and deceptive practices by the BLM are bringing about the final destruction of the few wild herds remaining in the U.S.
“These escalated roundups of America’s wild horses and burros appear to be politically motivated,” says Vivian J Grant. “We need to take this to the public on a much larger scale than we have been doing.”
Two teams of video producers, one in California, and the other in New York, are vying to have their PSA selected. Grant will make the final selection this week.
Wild horse anthem, “Wild Horses Need Our Voices” by the Las Vegas based band Grey Beard Bandit, with its upbeat call to action, is being used as the soundtrack of the 30-second PSA. “It has to set the right tone. We want to alert the public to the devastation and heighten the sense of urgency that people need to take action right now to preserve our wild horses and burros.” Grant adds.
You can help by making a donation, any amount large and small, to get the video into rotation the moment it is complete.
“It is thanks to the generosity of our followers, and a major supporter who works in the media whose idea it was, that we are able to launch this project. Space is parked for the PSA. How far we go with it depends on the willingness of those already in the know to help us inform the rest of the nation,” Grant concludes.
