BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT PRESS RELEASE
The management, protection and control of wild horses and burros is the focus of a meeting in Nevada next month.
The Bureau of Land Management’s National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board provides input and advice to the BLM as it carries out its responsibilities under the 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act. The law mandates the protection, management, and control of these free-roaming animals in a manner that ensures healthy herds at levels consistent with the land’s capacity to support them.
According to the BLM’s latest official estimate, about 38,500 wild horses and burros roam on BLM-managed rangelands in 10 Western states.
The meeting in Reno is on Monday, April 23, from 1:30pm to 5pm and Tuesday, April 24, from 8am to 5pm.
The public may address the Advisory Board on the second day, but those wanting to make a statement need to register first.
The Advisory Board meets at least once a year and the BLM Director may call additional meetings when necessary. Members serve without salary, but are reimbursed for travel and per diem expenses according to government travel regulations.

This article just came out today, Peta Distortion: How Luck’s cancellation was far from ethical. I subscribed to this report so I could put in my two cents worth in comments several weeks ago and to see what the followers of horse racing are saying. I have left comments about horse slaughter before but this comment I left I aimed at Paulick himself. My comment is pretty far down the line but it was printed. There is over a 165 comments I rechecked to see if I had a answer and he answered part of my comment but ignored the rest of it.
