Rep. Kurt Schrader (OR-5) and Rep. Gary Peters (MI-14) are circulating a Dear Colleague letter to their fellow members of the U.S. House of Representatives asking their support for the removal of the King Amendment from the 2013 Farm Bill.
The recently passed House version of the Farm Bill 2013 Farm Bill (pdf, 630 pp) contains the destructive King Amendment.
If left in, its language can be used to overturn critical State animal protection laws across the country, including those relating to horse slaughter, cruelty and abuse.
A Conference Committee is finalizing the Farm Bill right now.
