This newspaper is simply unbelievable. Here is an example for educational institutions teaching journalism to use on how not to do it.

The Daily News delivered five sacks of petitions to City Hall on Wednesday. It was the largest petition drop in de Blasio’s administration and the biggest in recent years. But the mayor says his promise to end horse carriages will still happen.

- Mayor de Blasio, unmoved by 40,000 signatures urging him to reverse course on a campaign pledge to ban horse carriages, made it clear Thursday that nothing has changed.
“We had an election last November. That is the ultimate public opinion poll,” the mayor said. “I said throughout the election that it was time to end the use of horse carriages in New York City. I’m going to keep to that promise.”

“Petitions are part of the democratic process, and we get a lot of petitions on a lot of things, and I always listen to people’s views,” he continued.
“But I stay true to what I told the people I would achieve, and we’re going to move forward. There in my view is not an obvious compromise,” he added. “The horse carriages don’t belong on the streets of New York City, and that’s what we’re going to move to change.”
The Daily News launched a campaign three months ago to save the 156-year industry that supports at least 350 families. Nearly 40,000 people signed petitions in the paper and online.
There you have it. In their own wordds. It is a campaign to save an industry, to save jobs. Horse are only mentioned when it suits them, such as this.

Tuesday's Horse 
Glad to see he is sticking to the promises that helped to get him elected. Horses are just the pawns in the finances of the carriage industry..Time to re-invent themselves & move on to other jobs…like so many of us have had to do because of the economy or changes for the betterment of the animals ect…….

Seems to me they have enough laws to do something about the bad people in the carriage horse industry .
Y punish the good ones .
Problem is the slap on the wrist and the pay offs r not a punishment .
