The news of abused horses has recently become overwhelming.
Rarely a week goes by without hearing about a new cruelty scandal where horses are the victims.
But the worst kind of violence against horses happens in broad daylight and in public. Children are witnessing the killing of animals for fun.
The latest blood feast comes from the state of Yucatan, in Mexico, where a “rodeo” type event called “Torneo de Lazo” where bulls ram horses and eviscerate [1] them.
Horses don’t die immediately, rather they are left bleeding on the ground with their intestines hanging loose.
According to Avaaz, the horses “usually collapse and while still alive continue to get trampled by bulls and other horses during the length of this violent and cruel event where horsemen try to lasso the running, charging bulls (the bulls are specifically bred and trained to ram horses).”
“Although it is against the law, this is only in name. Mexico’s federal government as well as the local authorities do nothing to stop this. This event takes place state wide all year round.”
We know that there are compassionate Latinos. One day we hope they will use their voices to bring a stop to this and any and all cruel events involving animals.
In the meantime, if you feel Petitions are effective, sign Avaaz’s petition which appears to have the most people signing, demanding that the Mexican government to put and end to this horrific event.

I Often travel to mexico. But trust me… NOT ANYMORE!
I work in a travel company, and doing my best to make people go to Cuba and Jamaica and Costa Rica instead.

I can’t connect to the petition and I can’t tweet the Mexican president. I’ll goggle for the president’s contact info. This is horrific and barbaric. Just can’t see how people get a thrill watching a poor innocent horse, or any animal murdered and suffer. Evil people.

This is the same thing that happens in Spain during a bullfight. As far I know they still use horses wearing a leather blanket so if the bull charges the horse it can’t gore it but it can still knock it down. This may have been stopped over the years but that’s what they used to do. Remember these are the same people that practice horse tripping. They do this at their rodeos in Mexico and in Calif where so many of them live. There isn’t anything really done to stop it by the Government in that state. A rodeo in Oregon was stopped from doing horse tripping at one of their shows claiming it had always been done which is total BS.
This is the same people that enter the US illegally and commit crimes such as murder, rape etc. Our Prisons are stuffed full of them with the taxpayers footing the bill. MS-13 are by far the worst of the worst. They are terrorists of the worst kind. Mexico is where the 1000’s of US horses end up every year because our corrupt government refuses to pass the Safe Act. I wish I could spirit all of the horses in these corrupt countries away to a alternate earth where there were no people at all. At least they would be safe from humans. All you have to do is look at the street dogs that all look like they are near death from starvation yet our government gives Mexico tax payer dollars for what I don’t know. It all goes in the pockets of the politicians.

this is totally insane , what is wrong with people . why would any do this . see this is what i was telling everyone there is some thing very messed up in their heads ,is it a gene missing ,or inbreeding going on in this population . i don’t know how to fight something like this so violent . humanity is missing a screw so desensatised to the point of blood lust ,you see it in the gangs and how they operate almost terroristic…..the corruption in mexico at best is a major problem. almost everybody you meet down there is on the take . I payed going and payed coming back! .
