Pickens’ wild horses murdered while wild horse enemy Salazar given special appointment by Hillary

What the heck is going on? Why do America’s wild horses have such bitter enemies? Is it really about the land? Or perhaps it’s about water rights.

One of the country’s top journalists, George Knapp, who has been investigating the wild horse and burro issue in Nevada for years, turned in a story that reports in part:

Caslon Quote Left BlackLAS VEGAS (August 17, 2016) — A reward of $100,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons who caused the deaths of a dozen or more horses in Nevada.

The mustangs were on a private reserve in Elko County created to save wild horses from going to slaughter.

The owner of the property calls it an act of terrorism, and in light of what was done, it clearly was no accident. The images are graphic.

The dead horses were discovered over the weekend on a 12,000 acre parcel, part of a much larger ranch owned by philanthropist Madeleine Pickens south of Wells, Nevada.

One of the dead animals was a Pickens favorite, a small brown mare she named Scarlet. In one of the images, Pickens is kneeling with Scarlet’s carcass.

Also dead, at least 11 other mustangs that had previously been saved from the slaughterhouse by Pickens. Dozens of other horses are missing.

Sometime in the last week or so, unknown persons vandalized several gates on the large enclosed preserve. Fences were cut, and worst of all, all of the water pumps were disabled, meaning the mustangs had no water for days. Most died of thirst in the summer heat. The I-Team spoke to Mrs. Pickens by phone Wednesday afternoon.

“No question, this was not an accident. This wasn’t just one well that went dry or something in the solar panel didn’t work. Everything was shut off, cut off, fences were cut and rolled back. They wanted all the horses to escape. They shut off the water holes so they couldn’t drink,” Pickens said.

In a different setting altogether we learned this today:

Caslon Quote Left BlackTwo big issues dogged Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primary: the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement (TPP) and fracking. She had a long history of supporting both.

Under fire from Bernie Sanders, she came out against the TPP and took a more critical position on fracking. But critics wondered if this was a sincere conversion or simply campaign rhetoric.

Now, in two of the most significant personnel moves she will ever make, she has signaled a lack of sincerity.

She chose as her vice presidential running mate Tim Kaine, who voted to authorize fast-track powers for the TPP and praised the agreement just two days before he was chosen.

And now she has named former Colorado Democratic Senator and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to be the chair of her presidential transition team — the group tasked with helping set up the new administration should she win in November. That includes identifying, selecting, and vetting candidates for over 4,000 presidential appointments.

As a senator, Salazar was widely considered a reliable friend to the oil, gas, ranching and mining industries. As interior secretary, he opened the Arctic Ocean for oil drilling, and oversaw the botched response to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Since returning to the private sector, he has been an ardent supporter of the TPP, while pushing back against curbs on fracking.

In case you wonder why I am so disgusted that Clinton would appoint the evil Salazar it is because of his constant interference and anti-wild horse activities.

If that’s not enough for you, how about this?

It is Salazar’s ranch hand Tom Davis who made money selling hundreds of America’s federally protected Mustangs to slaughter. Many more wild horses are also unaccounted for from the Salazar era. Davis was never arrested or prosecuted though he admittedly committed this crime — a federal crime to boot. I think there is little doubt where the others ended up.

All of this took place under Obama’s nose who never expressed a moment’s concern though he was inundated in the early years of his Presidency by wild horse and burro advocates to help. Even the most devout among them eventually gave up and pursued other means. In the meantime, Obama did not help but instead supported the loathsome, hot headed Salazar.

The Nevada quarter features three wild horses roaming freely. Three is about all that may be left if the BLM have its way.

I am loyal to neither the Democratic nor the Republican party because both let the United States and its citizens down on a regular basis in often egregious ways. No wonder the Millenials are heard to say they have “no hope”. I am an old timer (comparatively speaking) and I am right there with them.

America is in bad, bad trouble. So are America’s Mustangs. Tragic. They could just leave them alone. But no, that’s too easy. And not in cruel Nevada. Or this morally decaying country. Who is going to turn it around? Not the current suspects for President that’s for sure.

  1. For years we’ve been writing, calling, faxing regarding our horses both wild and domestic. It is a shame the Orc, Salazar, is part of HRC’s transition team. But look at the other side: “The Donald” has former congressman of GA, horse meat eater and horse slaughter proponent, Jack Kingston, as his senior adviser. In the meantime UTAH is going full blast in drilling on public lands. Wyoming is rounding up the last of our wild ones. I believe a small group of people are wresting control of congress. Obama had to make choices and got to expand the underwater national monument by Hawaii. No matter how important and how beautiful, this doesn’t help our horses.

  2. This is pure hatred. It is hate for these animals or the owner of the refuge or both.they don’t care about the land being over grazed. Non of vthese are the issue any longer because this lady provides the acreage, the food and water needs for this herd. Too do this says they just want them dead. Any one you hire, make sure they travel in pairs.I am so sorry you have had this to suffer. I wish I KNEW HOW TO HELP.

  3. This is absolutely disgusting and horrible, these innocent and beautiful horses did nothing to anyone, they are Gods creatures and a gift to us. I pray God brings his vengeance down upon anyone who was involved in this. People like this will do this to humans too, they are predators . Madeleine I do not know what else to say.

  4. Choosing Salazar as part of HRC’s transition team is a total mistake. But blaming BLM without any investigation isn’t right either. BLM’s House Committee on Natural Resources is the totally anti-environmental and anti-wildlife group and wants federal lands back to the states, e.g., Utah. They proclaim the Antiquities Act abusive.

    Hi John

The horses are “processed” thru your wild horse and burro program from the minute the helicopters arrive on their herd areas- this doesn’t warrant any justification of cruelty at any time. It’s not their fault they were born into a world of forage and special interest competition.

I am sure you have seen a lot. With recent proposals of questionable population control methods such as sterilizations the public is very discouraged at the all over concept that BLM is pursuing.

I personally care that humanity is a catalyst for these animals, as they suffer enough losses that seem temporary to us humans- but for them it’s tragically forever.

I also feel that America owes them respect that reflects high humane standards on ALL fronts. It would counter the stigma that dooms over BLM management since decades.
Provision of shade / wind blocks are a start, but should be part of an extreme weather protocol in all holding facilities.

Wild horses have enemies. Some dismiss them like non-feeling commodities.

The recent vicious attack on innocent horses at Mustang Monument demonstrates that some people stop at nothing. I hope you and BLM will be diligent as to help nail whoever did this. There is no excuse for such cowardly acts and cruel vendettas- no matter what. Some opposed Pickens for years, that does not warrant such barbaric violence against horses who already suffered immense losses.

I wish America would not fall into an abyss of hate, ignorance and resort to such indifference – it’s a shame.

The “freedom, unity and we are one” mindset seems to be an illusion more than a reality in this country.

You say you have visited many BLM facilities- have you been at Ridgecrest, CA ? Those canopies are ideal and well utilized by the animals.
I may take a trip to PVC in October, time allowing.

    Hi Madeleine,

Who would think anyone stoops this low. Very sorry.

I encourage you to hire armed, mounted patrol Rangers. Perhaps tribe members. It’s a huge area, but it can be done.

My friend Kristal Parks of Pachyderm Power.org hired patrolmen (tribe Massaii members) on bicycles in Kenya parks to combat elephant poachers.

You have the resources. Station a helicopter at Mustang Monument that does irregular and nightly flyovers. Announce this or any such plan widely in your newsletter. They are watching you like hawks now. With a action plan you will hopefully deter further attacks like this.

Also the use of security surveillance and drones is a way to keep pests out. Highly publicize any such measures to protect your animals from now on. That alone sends a message.

It’s tragic some resort to let these innocents suffer – I hope you do all you can to show the world and those responsible that you will not cower but turn around and arm yourself with measures to let this never happen again.

    Some people stop at nothing.

    Stay strong-

  7. This sickens me so much. The Feds are out of control on this and many other things to do with land management. There was no reason to slaughter these beautiful animals.

  8. Domestic terrorism. Now, US government, hunt down these coward criminals- with all your might- let not fiefdom mentality be the catalyst to let them get away- ever.

Vendettas against innocent animals- cowardice at its best. Quite frankly, I am not shocked- it was only a matter of time with the low lives that garner her opposition spectrum.

So sorry for the animals. She has got to hire armed patrol rangers like they do in Africa for poachers.

And she needs to install video surveillance on all access spots and have drones in use as well as a helicopter stationed to fly over – I hope they catch these bastards.
