Clant Seay is writing up what he witnessed at the 2020 Tennessee Walking Horse “Celebration” show, in this instance exposing the Celebration’s numerous lies about attendance — with pictures to prove it. We are posting some of the highlights of his article below. Go here for Seay’s full post and pictures.
Seay states:
In Shelbyville, Tennessee, the grand finale of the 82nd Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, had approximately 7,500+/- fans who were widely scattered in a 30,000 seat stadium.
On Monday, September 7, 2020, lifelong “Big Lick” supporter 88 year old Mr. Calvin “Paw Paw” Cheek of the Theta Community in Northern Maury County Tennessee, posted this comment on the Walking Horse Report Message Board at 7:48 p.m.:
“Crowd Saturday night was great. Largest crowd I have seen in MANY years, west grandstand looked about 75% full. Attendance was good the few nights that it didn’t rain. If the weather had been good all nights I believe there would have been a modern day record.”
If “Paw Paw” Cheek was right, there would have been 9,000 fans in the West Grandstand. There were 809 people (6.7%) sitting in the West Grandstand at 8:51 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2020.
And then “Big Lick” multi-millionaire 45 year old Mr. Jeffrey Howard Walking Horse Report Publisher/Celebration Director) concurred with “Paw Paw” Cheek saying:
“I agree. The crowd Saturday night (and the weather) was great! Overall just a very successful Celebration!”
2020 Celebration Attendance (actual numbers)
Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020 — 200
Friday, Aug. 28, 2020 — 400
Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020 — 2,100
Sunday, Aug. 3O, 2020 — 400
Monday, Aug. 31, 2020 — 400
Tuesday, Sep. 1, 2020 — 400
Wednesday, Sep. 2, 2020 — 400
Thursday, Sep. 3, 2020 — 1,250
Friday, Sep. 4, 2020 — 2,100
Saturday, Sep. 5, 2020 — 7,500
The downward spiral in Celebration attendance is also mirrored by the drastic decline in the number of members at the breed registry, TWHBEA, (Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders & Exhibitors Association).
In 2000, TWHBEA had just over 22,000 members. In 2020, TWHBEA now has 2,450 members — a decline of almost 90%.
Seay also reports that even with sparse crowds there was little to no social distancing.
Horror show
This is what they were there to see. Hideously cruel, and so very ugly.
Heroes for horses
Look at these heroes.

Many, many thanks to the indefatigable Clant Seay and all the great folks who showed up with him to protest. We are almost there. It’s almost over for these horses. Because of you.

Indefatigable is the perfect adjective for Clant. He is a modern day super hero.

Thank you to Clant Seay and all of the supporters for being a voice for these tortured horses.
I was shocked to read that this horror show goes on for 10 nights!
And of course these poor horses don’t just go through hell at this event – each and every day they go through hell at the hands of these monsters who should be jailed for serious aggravated animal cruelty.
What is the American Association of Equine Veterinarians doing about this?
And PETA?
And the Humane Society of the United States of America – surely there’s an office in Tennessee?

When lawmakers and officials are paid off in the millions it’s a nightmare to end. We are so close to getting a stronger law passed. There are loopholes in the existing law being exploited to keep the cruelty going on. But a lot will depend on whether we in the US can turn the Senate “blue” (meaning a Dem majority) in the upcoming election. Or Ky Senator Mitch McConnell is got rid of. He was “honoured” at this year’s Celebration.

That poor horse was suffering a very obvious bi-lateral nose bleed, clearly in distress and needing veterinary attention.
After being tortured in the horror show, they went on to ignore his ongoing suffering and continued with the line-up.
His agony made me physically ill.
The creep on him made my blood run cold.
Given that this hideous and public form of animal abuse has been exposed for many years now, i just don’t understand why the politicians in the state of Tennessee haven’t outlawed it.

Fund for Horses and Linda I am in total agreement it is dying way too slowly. YES, it is sickening to see any of these horses treated so badly and terrorized !! The upside is the attendance is getting a lot less. I appreciate all of the HEROES who are there to protest this absolutely hideous action of these so-called pure excuse for a human doing this sickening practice . I would to take the jerks, monsters into a dark alley and do the same thing to them as THEY DESERVE EVERY BIT THE SAME THING DONE TO THEM, Big Lick Big Lie. All the jerks involved in this need their heads examined. The only thing they understand is money NOT the welfare of the horses,
