MOUNTAIN GROVE, Mo. — (Feb. 24, 2012) A company called Unified Equine wants the Ozarks to be home to its first processing plant for horse meat for human consumption. The proposed plant would be just east of Mountain Grove near the Wright-Texas County line in the Twin Cities Industrial Park.
Unified Equine has been working on its business model for two years. When federal legislation in November brought back the ability for the USDA to inspect horse slaughter plants, the Wyoming company got serious about finding its flagship location.
“We wanted a state that was supportive of our efforts, and the folks in Missouri are 100 percent on board with what we’re trying to do and how we’re trying to do it,” said Sue Wallis, chief executive officers of Unified Equine, as well as a Wyoming state legislator.
The business people behind this are going to be very, very angry when they realize Sue Wallis, in her bloodlust to return horse slaughter to U.S. soil, has led them into a highly costly mistake.
Funding for the USDA inspections required to sell horse meat for human consumption has been resumed only for the current fiscal year. However, there is no money for it. Additionally, we are promised by prominent and reliable federal legislators that this will be reversed in the next budget. So no sooner than they open this proposed horse slaughter plant, they will have to close it. They will not be allowed to slaughter a single horse.
This is only the beginning of their troubles. The EU are finalizing new sanctions which should crush the life out of the horse slaughter business in North America.
The Mcpherson Law Center in Mountain Grove, Mo is fighting the slaughter plant. Sue Wallis and her ilk plan on it being built 4 miles from Mountain Grove in another county, according to the mayor. He said he could do nothing about stopping it, but Cindy Mcpherson was. Her assistant said they were definitely fighting it and had a lot of support domestically and from Canada. Their # is 417-926-3138. They welcome any support you can give them. She thinks Sue Wallis is a nut job.

Let’s hope that Sue is mugged on some dark night in the near future. But the auction owner is hoping to make a killing on the slaughter plant being in his town. He figures that the owners will be pouring in to sell their horses through his business and and the killer buyers will buy all of them and then drive next door or down the road to the slaughter plant to conveniently kill all of them. They will never get anywhere with this. There are groups joining forces all over the country to block any of these states from starting this bloody business again. One is the A.Q.H.A. Members Against Horse Slaughter group which is found on Facebook. There must be a lot of registered horse owners that don’t agree with Sue and her minions.

Sue Wallis’ dream of erecting a plant in Ohio will fail. The state will not offer assistance, and few ‘Investors’ will actually invest. In short, she will fail. Her cronies will not invest either, they are all too cheap. Breeding horses for slaughter is anathama to people in this Country, There will be so much bad press, with her ugly mug included, that she will be shamed out of Ohio.
Ugh.

Any investor that’s willing to throw money at this very high-risk business venture deserves every penny that they lose. And they WOULD lose every penny invested. Unless they want to be able to show a loss for the year, there’s no other justification for sending their money down this rat hole. Yep, I smell a rat.

Well said everyone. I noticed this comment on another blog: “Apparently the application to the local board says the proposed facility will breed horses on site in addition to trucking in. What?? Breeding?? I thought the whole point of horse slaughter was to ‘take care of the unwanted horses.’ ”
Horse slaughter is an evil, predatory business. But let’s not leave the horse meat eaters out. No horse meat eaters; no horse slaughter. No one for Sue Wallis to peddle her filthy ideas for.

The towns and the counties involved will soon learn that it is the worst mistake they could possibly make to allow this to enter their communities. It brings bad human elements, severely decreased property values, population moving, and no one wanting to move in, and terrible smells and environmental disasters. Even one of the”state of the art” horse killing factories in Canada is currently closed because of environmental problems it has caused. And nothing is more depressing to a community as seeing (IN SUE WALLIS’S WORDS) fat, healthy horses going through town to be inhumanely killed for foreign dinner tables… And exactly how does she claim that it will be sold in our country???? NEVER!
I am a REALTOR in the State of Texas who has specialized in Horse Properties for 20 years. I saw what this “industry” did to Kaufman County, Texas. And I have been a part of it’s recovery since 2007. We would never allow this to come back to Texas.

SUE WALLIS YOU ARE A DAMN LYER. THE PEOPLE OF MISSOURI ARE NOT FOR HORSE SLAUGHTER. OF COURSE YOU HAVE A CRAZY SENATOR WHO HAS MORE THAN LIKELY BEEN PROMISED A BIG PIECE OF THE ACTION. ORIGINALLY, I AM FROM MISSOURI AND MY FAMILY STILL LIVE THERE. THE PORK PROCESSING PLANTS ARE ENOUGH. THE PEOPLE GET NOTHING FOR IT. FIRST COMES THE IMIGRANT WORKERS THEN THE DOPE. NOW ONE OF THE MAIN ROUTE OF DOPE FROM THE BORDER IS THROUGH THIS AREA IN MISSOURI TO CHICAGO. IT EFFECT EVERYONE AROUND AND NOT IN A NICE WAY.
