No matter what month Thoroughbreds are born, their birthday falls on January 1 in the United States. The universal birthday is August 1 in the Southern Hemisphere.

National Horse Protection Day — March 1st

National Horse Protection Day was created to bring light to the plight of horses in America and beyond who have lost their homes and need help finding good new ones.

National Help a Horse Day (U.S.) — April 26th

National Help a Horse Day is observed annually on April 26th. Equine rescues and sanctuaries across the country hold events celebrating the horse. The events are designed to raise awareness and advocate for abused and neglected horses across the country.

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals founded National Help a Horse Day to bring awareness and promote intervention on behalf of abandoned, neglected and abused horses across the country.

National I Love Horses Day (U.S.) — July 15th

With over 200 breeds, these spirited animals have given humans much to love. Their loyalty and devotion throughout history may only be a portion of the reasons to love them. Not just a means of transportation, horses cleared fields, fought wars, moved cattle and were companions on long lonely trails. They were a cornerstone to survival in a burgeoning nation.
